The Role

Due to the continued success and growth of the firm. Our client is seeking an experienced employment / WHS lawyer with a minimum 3 years PQE to join the team. The opportunity will give the candidate the opportunity to engage in high level client contact and work on both front-end advisory and back-end litigation matters with support of the team.

You will have the opportunity to work in areas such as:

• Enterprise agreement planning, negotiation, drafting and implementation
• Workplace change, including corporate restructures
• Implementation of workplace policies and procedures
• Strategic employee behaviour advice including management of social media and defamation
• Investigation and resolution of workplace grievances and disputes
• Defence of discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, vilification and victimisation claims in all relevant tribunals and courts
• Advising on and representing in relation to termination of employment, including:

• Dismissal as a result of poor performance, misconduct or redundancy
• Contractual and statutory obligations
• Notice and termination payments
• Corporations Act limits on termination payments for employees
• Critical response and defence strategies in relation to major safety incidents
• Workplace investigations into safety incidents and complaints, including critical incidents and fatalities in the workplace
• Acting in safety-related prosecutions, litigation and coronial inquests at a federal and state level

About you

• 3 years PQE
• Strong written and verbal skills
• Ability to develop strong relationships with clients
• Solid work ethic
