Our client is an innovative global leader in the IT space; they provide technology & enterprise products, solutions and services to a wide variety of companies.
Due to continued innovation, growth and activity, our client is eager to hire a senior lawyer to join their Asia-Pacific legal department based in Sydney.
Reporting to the Head of Legal for the region you will provide high-quality commercially-focused legal advice and services to the business.
Responsibilities will include, however, are not limited to:
- Prepared and negotiate a wide variety of commercial agreements including supply, services and sales.
- Provide legal and commercial advice on the tender & bid process.
- Identify and advise the business on risk.
- Advise management on general legal matters, including disputes, regulatory requirements, HR/ER, M&A, competition, IP, privacy and other corporate matters.
- Manage and liaise with counsel in other jurisdictions and external counsel.
The ideal applicant will possess:
Mandatory:
- 5-7+ years post qualification experience.
- Training gained at a reputable law firm or another in-house legal department of a large corporation.
- Strong knowledge and experience in general contract, commercial and corporations laws.
- Experience with drafting, reviewing and negotiating complex procurement or supply agreements.
- Interest in the IT industry.
- Knowledge in competition & consumer and data privacy law.
Desirable:
- Background in a broad spectrum of technology contracts.
- Experience with reviewing and responding to tender documents and customer-supplied documents.
- Experience in intellectual property law.
- Supporting sales team.
- Secondment or in-house experience.

This role will best suit a commercially focused in-house lawyer currently working in the IT/Tech industry or a tier 1 or 2 lawyer in a TMT practice with considerable secondment experience looking to make a permanent move in-house.
