The Role & Your Responsibilities
As Senior Legal Counsel you will be first point of contact for users of legal services within RMIT's property services portfolio delivering high quality legal advice in a timely and customer focussed manner. This includes legal and strategic advice and support to the Supported Portfolios in the negotiation, drafting and development of high-value, complex agreements, policies, tender documents and all related legal documents required. You will develop and maintain productive and positive working relationships with key stakeholders and their teams.
You will report to the General Counsel and work closely with the Executive Director Property Services.
Skills & Experience Required
You will have substantial experience as a lawyer in construction law. Exposure to property law, in addition to construction law is helpful. Candidates should offer front-end construction law experience, or a mix of front and back-end. You will work on complex and significant transactions with enterprise-wide application and influence. You will have experience negotiating, drafting and advising on a range of high- value construction, property and capital works agreements. You will have demonstrable experience working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and a proven ability to operate with a high level of confidentiality in a diplomatic manner, with the ability to influence others. A positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work autonomously in a fast moving environment will see you succeed in this role.
