An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 3-6+ year lawyer to join its Planning & Environment team which is one of the largest and most highly experienced in Australia. The size of the team and depth of experience of our team members enable us to advise on the complete range of planning transactions as well as some environmental matters.  Its lawyers work with local, state and Commonwealth government clients as well as private sector clients in a wide range of industries.

The Role

The successful applicant can expect to make appearances before all relevant appeals tribunals, courts, advisory committees, commissions of inquiry and ministerial panels regarding the full range of planning appeals, enforcement actions and other issues. 

You will advise clients on changes in legislation, policy and guides applied in statutory and strategic planning processes and act across the development approval process from inception to completion.  It is expected you will also advise on and draft legislation and planning agreements, amendments to planning schemes, planning instruments, development control plans and policies, planning permits and advise on subdivision issues, including major land subdivisions and land release. 
You will have the opportunity to engage in a mix of litigation, advice and transaction work on Environment and Planning issues including major projects, contaminated land and waste management, water law, carbon and climate change, land acquisition, threatened species, environmental compliance, risk management and incident response.  
  
Applicants should possess 3 -6+ years' planning and environment experience ideally gained in private practice, an ability to learn quickly and adapt and possess a strong solutions-focussed approach to providing legal advice and a capacity for initiative and problem solving.
