The Role
Join Suncorp’s Corporate Legal Advisory team and provide critical legal advice on a broad range of activities across the Suncorp Group. Suncorp’s Corporate Advisory Legal team advises on areas such as M&A activity, ASX head office advisory, investments, fundraising, procurement, real estate, robotics, partnering,and more. You will work on large-scale corporate transactions and interact with clients across the business. Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Manager, Legal Corporate Advisory, you will be given the autonomy to manage a busy portfolio of matters for the business. Specifically, you will be required to:
- Demonstrate expertise in drafting, reviewing and negotiatingcommercial contracts, including IT and technology contracts.
- Provide legal advice to a breadth of functional areas to support the strategy and protect the interests of Suncorp Group
- Deliver commercially focused legal strategies and solutions
- Partner with the business to simplify complex legal problems and build relationships with clients
- Manage and influence stakeholders to drive excellent business outcomes
- Advise on the implications of regulatory change and key legal decisions
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role you will be a seasoned legal practitioner with excellent technical capability, effective communication skills and have a pro-active disposition. Specifically, you will be able to demonstrate:
Qualifications:
- Tertiary qualifications in Law – Mandatory
- Current Practicing Certificate – Mandatory
- Admission as a Lawyer in any Australian court – Mandatory
Experience
- 3 - 6 years previous relevant legal experience
- Experience with commercial, IT andtechnology contracting - Mandatory
- Experience providing corporate legal advice for a listed company – Desired
- Experience in investment management or financial markets / derivatives - Desired
- Broad corporate experience including M&A and Capital Markets - Desired
- Experience in the financial services industry, ideally banking or insurance - Desired
