Role Summary

We are looking for talented legal counsels to join our high-performing Legal & Regulatory team based in Sydney and Melbourne. The role will appeal to a mid-level in-house lawyer looking to move to a blue-chip corporate and/or a private practice lawyer looking to make a move in-house.

This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel – Gaming & Corporate and will work closely with the DGC and other members of the Legal & Regulatory team to support Tabcorp's gaming businesses and corporate functions across a range of areas, including commercial advisory, corporate, finance, regulatory, compliance, government relations, marketing, technology, IP, privacy and competition law.

The successful applicant will be joining at a very exciting time, with the organisation having completed a transformational merger at the end of 2017. 

How you will contribute

This role will focus on:

• providing high quality and timely legal advice to our corporate functions (including corporate strategy and finance) and our gaming businesses
• general commercial contracts
• providing general legal support on the rollout of new products and services
• marketing approvals and related advice
• assisting on small and large scale corporate finance and other strategic initiatives and transactions, including M&A
• providing legal assistance on complex regulatory and compliance matters
• advising on emerging legal issues impacting the group
• liaising with key internal and external stakeholders

Our Ideal Person

We are looking for a talented and commercially-minded lawyer who is admitted as a solicitor in NSW or VIC. Minimum of three years PQE obtained in a top-tier or large mid-tier firm or a high performing in-house team.

Critical to this role will be your strong technical legal skills and training, business acumen and ability to work well in a team environment as well as autonomously. You will have strong drafting and negotiation skills and the ability to manage a high-volume workload in a fast-paced and dynamic corporate environment.

This role will work closely with the business and will require excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to influence others by developing strong working relationships and delivering excellent commercial solutions to complex legal issues. 

Prior exposure to corporate advisory, M&A and/or corporate finance work will be well regarded
