Our client, market leading in its specialist field, is seeking a commercially savvy lawyer who thrives in a diverse role. This is a newly created position. You will report directly to the General Counsel & Company Secretary and enjoy a broad range of responsibilities.
This role suits a lawyer who enjoys both operational and strategic/project based work. The Senior Legal Counsel will provide advice across all areas of the business including International, Sales and Marketing, Manufacturing, HR, Corporate and Procurement. You will have relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders including senior management. You will also be involved in assisting with the continued development of the legal function, training and liaising with external law firms. Any experience working in/for an ASX listed company will be helpful but is not essential.
This varied legal role includes:
- drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- competition and Australian Consumer Law
- employment law
- procurement
- intellectual property and confidentiality issues
- assisting with the resolution of claims and litigation
A lawyer with 7+ years post qualification experience in general commercial law will enjoy the pace and diversity within this small team. You will have autonomy and responsibility. You will demonstrate willingness to contribute wholeheartedly in this growing business environment. In-house secondment experience will be well regarded for those in private practice. The successful candidate will demonstrate commercial acumen and an aptitude for building relationships with business clients. Working closely with an astute, supportive General Counsel & Company Secretary, this position presents an excellent opportunity.
