UGL has an exciting opportunity for Experienced Commercial Manager - Pre Contracts to join our Utilities and Resources Division. 

Reporting to the Manager, Commercial - Pre-contracts you will be accountable for providing commercial, and contractual expertise during the pre-contract, and early project delivery stages across Power, Industrial/Resource, Water and Renewable projects.
 
As an experienced commercial manager, you will provide your expertise from bid inception, through to contract award and operational handover, whilst providing governance to the systems and processes to ensure compliance, and ensuring that projects are commercially viable.
 
Role and responsibilities include;

• Provide commercial input into the Bid Strategies
• Ensure tenders, quotations and contracts include contract terms and conditions which suitably protect UGL interests and are in accordance with UGL’s policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Provide direction on co-ordination & review of legal position and compliance matters
• Completion of commercial/contractual qualification schedules
• Be responsible for the coordination and input of the commercial risk/reward “proposition” of the bid   
• Providing guidance on Rights and Obligations
• Implementation of Risk Register and required commercial risk controls in conjunction with team  
• Oversight of tendering resources to ensure full utilisation
• Commercial oversight of bids to ensure the bids meet the required risk profile of the business.
• Complete tender peer reviews
• Attendance and participation in all Gate Reviews
• Provide lead guidance & coordination of the negotiation and finalisation of Contract terms and conditions, consistent with bid risk profile.  
• Margin, KPI & contract performance reviews and client relationship reviews
• Completion of regular audit of contract compliance / risk controls, review of risk profile of major Contracts
• Assisting with any Contract disputes

Essential skills and experience required;

• Degree in Law or Quantity Surveying
• Post graduate qualifications in Construction Law is desired
• Strategic commercial experience in construction services environment.
• Previous experience in participating in Gate Reviews or similar
• Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
• Previous project Commercial/Contract Administration experience onsite
• Solid risk management experience with the ability to assist in evaluating identified risks/opportunities and development of agreed strategies and management plans to mitigate risk
• Outstanding verbal and written Communication skills and ability to communicate with people at all levels.
