Who we are

Studio Legal is a boutique law firm located in Windsor, Melbourne, practising in intellectual property, commercial, entertainment, media and technology law. We work with a variety of creatively driven and innovative individuals and businesses from cutting edge start-ups to established national franchise brands.

The position

We are looking for an experienced intellectual property/commercial lawyer with 3-5 years PAE to join our team. Accompanying experience in the areas of entertainment, media, employment and technology law will be highly regarded, but not essential.

This role will see you working on a variety of matters, which may include:

  • Drafting a variety of business contracts, including customer terms and conditions, licence agreements, sponsorship agreements;
  • Drafting app and website terms and conditions, end user licence agreements and privacy policies;
  • Carrying out brand clearance searches, lodging trade mark applications, protecting trade mark rights and handling trade mark oppositions and disputes;
  • Advising on a variety of intellectual property matters, including ownership and infringement matters, with an emphasis on trade marks and copyright;
  • Advising on a variety of entertainment law matters, with a focus on the music industry;
  • Facilitating new business set ups and restructures;
  • Drafting shareholders, unitholders, partnership and joint venture agreements;
  • Managing commercial and IP disputes;
  • Drafting employment agreements and advising on employment rights (including award entitlements, unfair dismissal and termination matters).

Applicants demonstrating experience across some, but not all practice areas are encouraged to apply. We will offer the opportunity to up-skill in these additional areas for the right applicant.

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone intelligent, hardworking, dedicated, friendly, client-focused and with a 'can do' attitude. The ability to build and nurture client relationships is of the utmost importance.  You will have worked primarily in commercial and IP law since being admitted and be able to hit the ground running upon starting at Studio Legal.  You will be empowered to manage your own files and develop legal strategies with the support of your team.

Your ability to work well under pressure, strong attention to detail and organisational skills will see you excel in this role.  Most importantly, we are looking for someone with a positive and professional nature, who is a team player and enjoys what they do, and is able to fit into our close-knit team.  A passion for the creative industries is a must!

What we offer

Studio Legal has a unique culture that separates us from most law firms. You can leave your 'suit and tie' at home and enjoy coming to work each day in an inspiring office environment.  Located on Chapel Street in Windsor's vibrant bar and restaurant hub, you will be perfectly positioned to go straight from your desk to dinner (or a cheeky after work drink!).

Your continuing development as a lawyer will be nurtured and you will be encouraged to strengthen your existing commercial and IP skill set, whilst also building upon your knowledge in new areas of practice. You will be closely supported and mentored by our Principal and recognised for your hard work and achievements. If you would like to be part of a small, friendly and supportive team, and also like to have fun at work and enjoy what you do, then we encourage you to apply!

How to apply

To apply, please send a covering letter outlining why you are suitable for the role, together with your CV to [email protected].  Please note only successful applicants will be contacted.
