The role:

This newly created position recognises the growth of the firm and importance of planning in implementing business strategy when combined with true business development/marketing skills to advance client relationships and support our partners and senior lawyers raise the firms brand profile.  

This role is an important part of the BDM and management teams and will take a leadership role in supporting the Partner & Senior planning and will be focused on ensuring client plans and bids are effectively implemented and supported by creative marketing activities.

The role suits someone who is looking to step up into a senior BD role and is looking for an opportunity to influence how the firm implements its strategy and how the BDM team works to support the firm.  We want someone who can quickly earn the respect of the Partners, is open-minded,  curious and can bring their passion to help build something new and different for the firm.

 

Key responsibilities include:

Working with a Business Development + Marketing Director, you will help develop and implement client and market-focused business plans to achieve the firm's objectives. You will be involved with:

Client development:

  • developing and implementing credible and effective Product Line, Partner and Senior Lawyer business plans;
  • assisting partner and client teams achieve revenue targets through well written client tenders and capability statements that effectively identify and meet the clients needs
  • developing  client engagement and client experience strategies in conjunction with the firms Partners;

BD Support to Partners & Senior Lawyers:

  • providing advice and coaching senior lawyers around understanding clients' requirements, client meetings, event follow up and pitch presentation rehearsals;

Marketing:

  • working the BDM Director and Marketing Manager to develop  targeted thought leadership campaigns to to position and profile of our partners/senior lawyers as market leading insurance specialists and to raise the profile of the firm;
  • guiding our lawyers in client engagement opportunities that help build their profiles;

Other projects:

  • providing team support and coaching to develop talented BDM professionals; and
  • developing BDM resources to improve efficiency and productivity of the department.

 

To be considered you will:

  • be passionate about writing and story telling and be able to visualise alternate ways of presenting information to provide creative client pitches;
  • be curious and have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills;
  • be able to hold your own with a large group of successful professionals, communicate confidently and build sustainable relationships and networks both internally and externally;
  • have core skills in writing and editing copy for tenders, capability statements and other business collateral;
  • have the energy and enthusiasm to coach and mentor less experienced team members and our lawyers ;
  • preferably have worked with CRM solutions and event management tools; and
  • hold relevant tertiary qualifications (either business or legal) with a minimum of 7 years business development or marketing experience gained in a consulting or professional services environment.
