Our client is a large services business across NSW with a large blue-collar workforce.
Due to expansion our client has created a new role for a disputes lawyer to join their impressive Sydney CBD based legal department.
Reporting to the General Counsel you will provide broad ranging dispute resolution advice to the business on a variety of matters.
Responsibilities:
- Managing and advising on commercial disputes, including those arising out construction, services transactions and WHS.
- Providing legal advice in relation to WHS.
- Assisting with safety and other regulatory investigations.
- Assisting with negotiating and drafting construction and services procurement documents.
- Managing external counsel.
- Training internal stakeholders.
Requirements:
- Essential:
- 4-8+ years PQE in construction and/or commercial litigation/disputes.
- Law degree and current Australian Practicing Certificate.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to work with internal stakeholders.
- Ability to communicate complex legal concepts to a broad range of staff.
- Desirable:
- Experience and knowledge of construction contracting.
- Work Health and Safety Act (or equivalent legislation in other jurisdictions) and similar regulatory experience.
- Energy/Utilities sector experience (including renewable energy).
- Property dispute experience.
This role will suit an associate or senior associate level disputes or back-end construction lawyer or an in-house lawyer with excellent negotiation and influencing skills who can juggle competing priorities across a diverse portfolio of matters.
