Expressions of Interest Sought

The College of Law invites expressions of interest from legal practitioners who wish to be engaged as adjunct lecturers to provide the services of lecturing and marking as described below. Adjunct lecturers are engaged on an as needs basis.

Opportunities also arise to present in the Professional Development programs, which deliver short CPD programs for skills development. These include face-to-face program, skills workshops and webinars.

In addition to the national practical legal training (PLT) programs, the College provides postgraduate courses up to a masters level, as part of its Applied Law Programs. These programs are offered across 12 practice areas as follows:

Masters programs are run over 12 weeks online or in a 6 week intensive format across 4 intakes each year.

The requirements

Adjunct lecturers are responsible for providing students with a high quality teaching and learning experience whilst they are completing their postgraduate programs.

Lecturers are responsible for facilitating students’ teaching and learning whilst they are completing the online component of the course. Programs are delivered via the Canvas learning platform over a 6 or 12 week period.  The 6 week intensive courses, also have a 3 day face to face workshop component.

We are currently looking to engage adjunct lecturers across all practice areas familiar with Victorian, New South Wales, Queensland or Western Australian jurisdictions. Teaching is on an as required basis.  As the work is predominately online, we encourage candidates from regional Australia to apply.   This is an opportunity to work flexibly as part of a dynamic and highly engaged team.

Required qualifications and experience:

  • At least 10 years’ experience as an Australian Legal Practitioner, an LLM or higher.  Accredited specialists in the relevant practice areas are encouraged to apply. Presenters in the Professional Development programs may apply with less experience.
  • A keen interest in teaching
  • Enthusiasm for the development and continual improvement of teaching skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues in a team
  • An enthusiasm for the practice of law and an ability to communicate that enthusiasm
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Capacity or willingness to contribute to the creation and maintenance of course materials (multi-media and online)
  • Sound project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task and achieve priorities within tight timelines
  • Awareness of educational technologies including online delivery
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office
