This international health care company is looking for a 3+ PQE lawyer to join its high performing legal team. The Legal Counsel position presents an opportunity to work on a wide variety of transactional and commercial work in a dynamic and expanding business.
The Company
The company has very quickly established itself as a leader in the health care space, and is planning on expanding into new markets over the next year. The company has grown its presence over the past decade and created a name for providing a tailored service in line with the needs of its patients. There has been substantive internal growth across all business departments as a result.
The company's offices are on the outskirts of Sydney's CBD.
Key Responsibilities
Due to the company's rapid growth, a position has become available for an ambitious lawyer at the 3+ PQE level to join the high performing legal department. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the legal operations of the business on an international level, and therefore encompasses a range of legal work across various practice areas. Some notable work includes:
- Advising key internal stakeholders (including the company's business development team) on the company's international expansion, which will include providing advise in relation to corporate M&A and joint ventures;
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating key commercial contracts relevant to the business. These could include leases, employment contracts, financing agreements, supply agreements, sale and purchase agreements and other general commercial documents;
- Supporting the company secretarial function of the business, which involves ensuring compliance with regulatory provisions and maintaining shareholder engagement;
- Actively assisting on the company's business development projects;
- Providing support to the international arms of the business and assisting with providing legal advice in relation to the company's continued expansion;
- Managing external legal providers where appropriate.
Key Requirements
The successful candidate will be a high-performing, technically astute lawyer who is passionate about working for an organisation committed to making a difference. You will possess the following key attributes:
- Admitted as a solicitor in Australia;
- At least 3+ PQE gained from a top-tier or highly regarded national practice. Secondment experience is advantageous but not essential;
- Experience in corporate law (M&A particularly) will be highly regarded given the nature of the work you'll be undertaking;
- Experience in other areas of law, such as property and employment law, will be highly beneficial;
- A commitment to working in a close-knit and high performing legal function;
- Highly developed organisational and communication skills (both written and verbal);
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally if required;
- A strong understanding of the commercial impact of decisions on businesses.
