About AFSA  

The Australian Financial Security Authority (AFSA) is the government agency responsible for providing improved and equitable financial outcomes for consumers, business and the community through application of bankruptcy and personal property securities laws, regulation of personal insolvency practitioners, and trustee services.

About the role

The Director Insolvency & Trustee Services will lead a dynamic team of professionals passionate about their role in maintaining an equitable and effective personal insolvency system. You will lead the achievement of strategic plan objectives through successful initiatives at a national level. As a delegate of the Official Trustee you will act as the Official Trustee in administering bankruptcies and also administer orders under the proceeds of crime legislation.  This requires you to exercise statutory powers and financial delegations to satisfy AFSA’s obligations. You will actively represent AFSA and engage with and develop relationships internally within AFSA and externally with a range of diverse stakeholders across government, academia, professional bodies and private sector organisations. Your ability to inspire a team and deliver high quality outcomes that shape AFSA’s strategic agenda will see you succeed in this role.

About you  

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • exceptional communication and analytical skills with an ability to interpret complex legislation to meet strategic objectives through an innovative and compelling approach
  • high level strategic skills with an ability to influence outcomes at a strategic level
  • demonstrated ability to solve complex problems as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • demonstrated success with leading and inspiring a professional team
  • tertiary qualifications in Law, Accounting or demonstrated equivalent experience gained within Bankruptcy and Insolvency.
