As a highly-qualified and motived finance lawyer, you’ll support our Global Mining Finance and Asia Pacific Upstream Capital businesses which specialise in providing debt financing, equity capital and hedging to producers across the resources sector globally. 

Your focus will be on structuring finance and hedging transactions in the mining and oil and gas sectors both within Australia and offshore, including drafting and negotiation of terms sheets, mandate letters, International Swaps and Derivatives Association documentation and confidentiality agreements.  You’ll be required to instruct external counsel, review and negotiate documentation for syndicated and bilateral debt facilities (including project finance, corporate finance and acquisition finance) and equity investments, as well as any M&A transactions being considered by these businesses.  The scope of the role will also see you involved in restructuring and work-outs of existing exposures.

We’re needing a well-qualified lawyer with experience in, or looking to work directly within a business. You’ll hold 5 -8 years’ post-qualification experience in a major Australian law firm, or similar experience gained in-house in a banking and finance or resources environment. Ideally you’ll have gained experience in structuring, drafting and negotiating facility, security, priority and tripartite documentation for secured financing transactions (including resources and project finance). 

If you have direct experience in insolvency and/or restructuring environments, knowledge of derivatives and master netting agreements, as well as experience in advising on equity investments, including options, this will be highly-regarded.  You’ll need to be able to demonstrate outstanding relationship and communication skills, and all applicants must be admitted to practice law in Australia.
