The Role

Origin's legal team is responsible for the provision of legal services across all of our diverse activities in Australia and overseas. Reporting to the Head of Legal - Corporate, the role of Corporate Lawyer has a principal focus on advising on a range of corporate and commercial matters across Origin's business.

In this role, the successful candidate will:
  • Support the Head of Legal - Corporate in the Sydney team to deliver value to the Origin Energy Group through helping them achieve their goals
  • Develop a good understanding of the activities of the Corporate Group and other operating business units and proactively identify and deliver on opportunities to add value
  • Providing high quality legal services and well-reasoned recommendations to enable high quality decision making by clients
  • Providing advice on a wide range of matters associated with the above mentioned business units such as:
    • M&A - acquisitions of new businesses and disposal of existing businesses across all of Origin
    • Joint Ventures - negotiating joint venture arrangements between Origin and its joint venture partners
    • Operations - advising on and negotiating various transactions and commercial arrangements for a number of operating business units
  • Ensuring that the services and advice provided by external lawyers is of high quality, commercially focussed and represents value for money
  • Monitoring changes and developments in the legal and regulatory environment relating to the Group's activities

Is This You?

To be considered for this opportunity you will need to be an Australian qualified solicitor, with at least 6+ years' PQE, with legal experience gained from working in a major commercial law firm and/or in-house with a focus in the corporate and/or projects space.

Experience working on energy related transactions, commercial agreements and projects will be particularly well regarded.

Your excellent communication and influencing skills, ability to deal effectively with a range of internal stakeholders and commercially-focused approach to providing legal advice will be key to your success in this role.

The role will be based in Sydney. Some domestic and international travel may be required.
