The Company

With a national team, our client has a reputation for successfully managing non-contentious and contentious IP, advertising, and technology matters for a client base that includes large listed companies, not-for profit organisations, local subsidiaries of multi-national companies and dynamic Australian businesses.

Their industry coverage includes banking, construction, entertainment & media, oil & gas, telecommunications, and transport & logistics nationally. They work for blue chip clients who demand a high level of professionalism and the firm does not disappoint.

Currently, they have a requirement for a highly motivated and positive thinking Legal Secretary to join their Property team in Sydney, providing support to multiple operators including at Partner level.

The Position

This is an exceptional opportunity to learn and grow with a dynamic and close knit team. You will be providing a range of administrative support to multiple partners and fee earners.

Duties and Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing draft correspondence in relation forwarding documents to various parties for review, signing and/or safe-keeping
  • Managing periodic status reports for clients
  • Opening, maintaining and closing files
  • Time recording and billing; including sending bills to clients on a regular basis
  • Preparing basic draft legal documents, correspondence, emails, memos
  • Personal assistant tasks (diary and travel management, answering phones and recording messages)
  • Liaising with clients, dealing with high level queries and staff on day to day matters
  • Maintain a current knowledge of file status, billing status and other administrative aspects of client offerings

Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ legal secretarial experience in Property law
  • A minimum typing speed of 65wpm
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to work well with others in a team environment
  • Initiative and the ability to work unsupervised
  • Advanced skills in Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Intermediate level skills in PowerPoint
  • A strong administrative background with excellent typing and document drafting skills
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and organise workload to meet tight deadlines
  • Advanced organisational and multi-tasking skills
