Position Objectives

This Community Legal Service based in Mildura offers free, confidential legal advice, information, referral, casework and community legal education to vulnerable people in the Northern and Southern Mallee areas of Victoria and New South Wales and engages in law reform activities.  

The Senior Caseworker will work collaboratively with the Mildura and Swan Hill Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence services, as well as the Community Legal Service, and may at times maintain a social work client case load to support victims in the holistic service model. The Senior Caseworker will be responsible for reporting on the funded program to the General Manager.

Key Selection Criteria

• At least two years of relevant experience in the field of family violence and client case management, including an understanding of and sensitivity to the vulnerabilities of such clients;
• Experience in project management, including data collection and analysis, preparation of reports and evaluations.
• Commitment to the values and vision of the CLC, including to social justice and law reform.
• Experience in providing support services to disadvantaged people but not limited to an ability to identify and understand issues affecting  disadvantaged clients such as indigenous people and people from non-English speaking backgrounds.
• Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve targets.
• A current driver's licence, a willingness to travel, including overnight stays on some occasions when required.

  
Qualifications

A degree in social work which provides eligibility for membership of AASW is required, with at least two years’ experience in working in the family violence field preferred. Program coordination experience and understanding of data systems are also required.
