  • Flexible hours over Wednesday / Thursday

This is a newly created part time role of approx 10 - 15 hours per week (flexible working hours over Wednesday and Thursday, but must be in office) role for an experienced Trust and Operating Accounts Clerk in a busy boutique family law firm.

The successful candidate will join a small, close team and be our support with our our trust and operating Accounts. You must have demonstrated experience in all aspects of a TRUST ACCOUNT and use of a trust account program preferably in LEAP Cloud and MYOB Classic and demonstrated experience in the use of a trust account and operating accounts.

Key responsibilities

  • Proficient knowledge of LEAP Cloud (trust and operating);
  • Proficient knowledge of MYOB Classic;
  • Record day to day financial transactions including receipting, trust to operating transfers;
  • Payment of supplier invoices;
  • Bi-monthly client invoicing;
  • Bank account statement data entry and monthly bank reconciliations for 6 accounts;
  • Monthly trust account reconciliations and end of month procedure;
  • Manage all payroll responsibilities including Superannuation, Payroll Tax and WorkCover;
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly BAS statements and lodgement on ATO portal;
  • Superannuation payments;
  • Liaising with external Accountant with end of financial year reporting and lodgements;
  • Liaising with trust account external examiner with end of trust year reporting and lodgements;
  • Data entry, reconciliations, end of month reporting;
  • Creditors and Debtors reconciliations;
  • Budget, Cashflow and P&L reports;
  • Regular fee earner budged meetings;
  • General administration duties including answering phones and attending to reception and paralegal overflow.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a bookkeeping or in-house accounting role;
  • Demonstrated proficient usage of a trust account package preferably LEAP Cloud and MYOB Classic and ATO portal;
  • Certificate level qualification or higher in Bookkeeping/Accounting;
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles;
  • Attention to detail, with an eye to streamline business procedures;
  • Demonstrated ability to use initiative & ensure deadlines are met;
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic;
  • Ability to work both autonomously and with a team;
  • An organised approach and ability to follow systems and procedures with minimal guidance.

This role works closely with the Principal Lawyer and Reception/Client Services Officer and reports weekly to the Principal Lawyer.

We are 100 metres from the Moonee Ponds train line. Parking is not supplied.
