We specialise in several areas of law including Commercial, Property, Wills and Estates. We act for a wide variety of corporate and private clients including financial and religious institutions, accountants, financial planners, property agents and developers.
We advise various church authorities on a range of matters.
We have had particular experience with the Catholic Church, with whom we have worked for over 20 years.
Your role will entail defending common law claims in the Supreme and District Courts for compensation involving abuse against the Church Authorities. Our client base has a strong preference for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) where possible.
Required attributes:
- Broad experience in Litigation and ADR
- Personal injury or insurance Litigation experience
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders including victims of abuse and their solicitors
- Resilience and maturity to respond to highly sensitive, and at times graphic claims
- Situational perspective and skills to be empathetic whilst being a strong advocate for your client's interests
- Strong negotiation skills
- Established drafting, procedural and technical skills, particularly with drafting of pleadings and client advice work
- Strong focus on achieving outstanding client outcomes and building and maintaining strong client relationships
- Good practice management skills to independently run own matters
- Good time management skills
- Strong computer skills
- Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
Highly desirable attributes:
- Compensation and church law experience
