This role will be based either in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne.

Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities

1. Financial Objectives

• Deliver profitable growth through achievement of financial KPIs relating to production, profitability and expenses including
  • Target loss ratios; and
  • Target Retention ratios and New Business conversion ratios

2. Service Excellence

• Promote service excellence by servicing allocated producers according to agreed KPIs including:
  • action underwriting referrals within delegated authority in accordance with profit centre guidelines
  • liaison on claims settlement / resolution (as required)
  • resolution of receivables management issues (as required)

• Undertake annual Scheme reviews to determine
  • overall performance (GPW production and Loss Ratio development)
  • opportunities for expansion; and
  • review of scheme parameters (including terms and conditions)

• Broker/Producer engagement - conduct regular visitations to principle trading partners in order to
  • monitor portfolio results
  • provide training on AIG’s electronic trading platform (Transact)
  • provide updates / training on new & upgraded products

3. Business Development and Marketing

• Play a lead role in identification, qualification, development and marketing of AIG’s SME multi-line capability product suite including
  • Portfolio transfers
  • New scheme opportunities

• in collaboration with distribution (Client & Broker Engagement) and other profit centre underwriters, identify opportunities
  • to establish trading relationship with new producers
  • to promote AIG’s SME capability and product suite to internal and external stakeholders

4. Underwriting Excellence (Portfolio Management)

• Apply the principles of portfolio underwriting to drive profitable growth
• Undertake regular portfolio management to identify and develop action plans to address
  • under-performing segments of the portfolio
  • under-performing producers / distribution channels

5. Systems / Product development

• Contribute to the development of the SME operating model in Australia including input into
  • systems and user interface design
  • product development and design
  • review of electronic trading platform (Transact) business rules and rating algorithm
  • improvements in operational efficiency
• Participate in research involving new / emerging exposures

What we are looking for

Professional / Technical skills and experience

• Solid background and experience in General Insurance
• Strong technical knowledge of commercial underwriting - Preferably in a multi-line SME role
• Proven track record in managing and developing broker relationships

Personal competencies

• Ability to drive a culture of service excellence
• Strong interpersonal skills - particularly collaboration and engagement skills
• Sound communication skills - including written and presentation skills
• Strong team player
• Willingness and desire to learn
