The role

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join our Brisbane based General Insurance team as we embark on significant organisational growth and opportunity to assist with expansion into Sydney and Melbourne .  The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide exceptional customer service through their professional leadership, which includes managing a team of Assistant Brokers and Administrative support, while providing ongoing support to our Broking team.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Provide leadership and mentoring to the General Insurance team while monitoring and managing the workflow of the team to ensure that service standards are met;
  • Monitor and develop the skills and capabilities of the team in line with both business needs and individual development requirements;
  • Provide the highest quality pro-active support to clients, Brokers and management;
  • Deliver minimum service standards as determined by the company from time to time ensuring that issues and tasks are addressed and completed in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Prepare general correspondence, schedules, tax invoices, reports, travel arrangements, manage absent team members’ emails and attend to client and underwriter calls as directed in an accurate and timely manner;
  • Ensure all office procedures relating to the role and team are up to date; maintained to the highest standard and required training is provided to the team;
  • Generate and provide reports and updates to management about work status of team;
  • Take a proactive role in seeking opportunities for continuous improvement to business processes and business opportunities.

About you

To be considered for this role you will have strong customer service skills and have exceptional people leadership skills. Your previous experience will consist of the following:

  • Five years previous experience in General Insurance or similar as well as leadership roles; 
  • Basic understanding of Insurance products and definitions, particularly retail and commercial;
  • Ability to operate within a collaborative team environment;
  • Ability to develop a high level of technical and investment knowledge;
  • Ability to show initiative and offer suggestions and alternatives;
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products;
  • Experience with Winbeat and Sunrise desirable;
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise and multi-task;
  • The ability to liaise with a variety of stakeholders across different levels;
  • Tier 2 general insurance.
