JLT currently have a vacancy for an Associate Director - Treaty Reinsurance within our Sydney based JLT Re team. This role is responsible for servicing and developing Treaty reinsurance business, as well as binders/facilities, with a requirement for proven knowledge of Specialty lines such as Life, Accident and Health.
The role advocates for clients through representing client interests to the market through the process of strategy, placement, renewal and claims. The role requires an intimate knowledge of the operation of binders and facilities in the London market, predominantly Lloyd's.
This role requires superior client relationship management skills as well as strong report writing skills, client research, portfolio and balance sheet analysis and good oral and written communication skills.
To be considered for this role, the successful applicant will possess the following:
Minimum/Core skills:
Over 5 years' experience working in a client-facing role in a reinsurance business, ideally with experience working in the London/Lloyd's market, and with US/Global markets, as well as Asia Pacific (in particular: China/Hong Kong/Singapore/Australia).
Superior knowledge and application of broking principles, reinsurance products and services – both locally and internationally
In-depth knowledge of sales and marketing principles and their application with the reinsurance market
Expertise in Life, Accident & Health insurance and Reinsurance as well as experience of cross-class Treaty reinsurance (Property & Casualty) in multiple territories.
Knowledge of/experience working with Global Insurers and Reinsurers (US/Bermuda/Canada and International Markets, including Australia/, Asia and Europe as well as Lloyd's)
Active involvement in RFPs – both production and delivery of presentation (independently and alongside team members)
Production and placement of Specialist class Binders & line slips as well as Treaty reinsurance (XOL, Stop Loss, QS)
Additional desired skills:
Legal training or basic understanding of Legal system (for Casualty lines such as Medical Malpractice).
Experience working with Analytics teams
Experience working with InsurTech providers to assist with "MGA incubation" (underwriting platforms, data capture, white labelling of products)
Understanding of employer self-funded medical (e.g. Specific & Aggregate Stop Loss) and other alternative risk transfer mechanisms (e.g. Captive protection)
Language skills to assist with multinational clients
