The role
The Senior Actuarial Analyst-Life Capital Modelling will provide actuarial, analytical and technical support to the Actuary-Life Capital Modelling with respect to the company’s solvency and profitability. This role is critical to the delivery of APRA regulatory capital reporting, capital stress testing and capital management advice to the Board, management and the business.
Key accountabilities will include but not be limited to:
Provision of actuarial, analytical and technical support to the Actuary-Life Capital Modelling with respect to the company’s solvency and profitability, including:
- Capital reporting: APRA regulatory capital reporting, production of capital factors for other teams (e.g. EV, pricing etc)
- Capital strategy: maintain sustainable solvency with efficient use of capital
- Reinsurance strategy: properly manage insurance risks for effective capital usage
- Investment strategy: maximise returns on capital for shareholders and Par policyholders
- Risk strategy: monitor risks and drive proposals on risk management
- Pricing strategy: manage capital to meet pricing objectives
- Strategic projects: participate in various projects with other teams
- Forecast and business planning: production of capital projections
- Stress testing: APRA and internal stress and scenario testing
The ideal candidate will possess the following experience, skills and qualifications:
- Experience working as an Actuarial Analyst in a capital modelling or valuations role in life insurance in a developed market
- A relevant degree in Actuarial Studies, Statistics, Commerce or related field
- Studying towards Fellowship of the Actuaries Institute of Australia or equivalent international body
- Experience of actuarial modelling and Prophet (actuarial modelling system)
- Experience of Excel modelling
- Competent systems skills and a knowledge of spreadsheets, databases and data structures
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to understand the broader context of work
- Work as a team member and communicate effectively (oral & written)
