An exceptional opportunity has become available for a Property Underwriting Manager to join our Corporate team located in Sydney. In this role you will be tasked with achieving sustainable profit and growth across the Corporate portfolio, through the provision of operational management, leadership of employees, oversight of underwriting activity and operational product strategy and pricing.

The opportunity
- Executes operational objectives and the business plan for the Corporate Property underwriting
- Review existing portfolios/accounts and recommend strategies for profitable growth
- Assist in the development of product plans, operating budgets and initiatives to ensure profitable growth and increased market share
- Underwrite complex risks in accordance with defined limits of authority, organisational policy and underwriting standards
- Assist with the development, streamlining and implementation of new policies, processes and procedures to meet business and renewal retention needs
- Engaging key stakeholders in the development, execution and evaluation of appropriate business plans
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, brokers and QBE colleagues to effectively promote the product and expertise to brokers
- Achieve underwriting results and growth (through new business and renewals) in accordance with plan/budget
- Monitoring portfolio results and individual product performance, identifying trends and opportunities and taking correction action as necessary
- Lead, manage and coach the team of experienced Underwriters ensure effective resource allocation, optimal performance, capability development, employee engagement and retention
What does success look like?
- Extensive knowledge and experience as a Property Manager, ideally in the corporate/international broker market.
- Working knowledge of risk management, portfolio management and underwriting
- Building relationships, communicating, negotiating and influencing at a senior level within the insurance industry
- People management – ability to engage and lead a team
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, specialist qualifications or equivalent
- Use of risk profiling and pricing tools and loss models
