Senior Case Manager- Claims

The Role:

A Senior member of the Claims Team responsible for proactive application of a variety risk and case management strategies designed to effectively manage claims, ensuring that the needs of the customer and the organisation are continually met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess incoming claims and form strategies based on the initial information provided.
  • Manage a portfolio of claims maintaining effective risk management, ensuring that legitimate claims are paid at the right benefit level and in accordance with legal requirements and policy definitions.
  • Adjust strategies as required following receipt of additional information and ongoing assessment.
  • Gather and interpret all necessary information relevant to effective management of the claim.
  • Instruct and manage investigations, including factual interviews and surveillance, making changes to ongoing claim management strategies as required.
  • File all relevant documents in a neat, clear and efficient manner.
  • Ensure all file notes produced are clear, concise and accurate.
  • Follow up stakeholders as required, either by telephone or in writing, requesting all information necessary for effective management of the claim as defined in the Life Code of Practice as a minimum.
  • Mentor less experienced members of the claims assessment team

Skills & Experience :

  • Significant Life Claims Management experience  with a focus on Income Protection, TPD and Trauma products.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of complex claims from both a medical and financial perspective.
  • Ability to communicate directly with customers and advisers to build rapport and execute quality customer service.
  • Experience with engaging external providers and stakeholders to assist in the assessment and resolution of claims
  • Highly organised and methodical showing the ability to manage numerous tasks and deadlines.
  • Good knowledge of the biopsychosocial model, medical terminology, work capability.
  • Appreciation of and commitment to exceptional customer service.
  • Highly motivated, driven and energetic.
  • Strong ethics and integrity.
  • Commitment to ongoing development of self and others and an ability work within a positive team environment
  • Strong knowledge of the Life Code of Practice and the Life Insurance Industry.
