The opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Public Liability Claims Officer to join our Long Tail Claims team in NSW on a permanent full-time basis. The role will see you proactively manage a portfolio of Long Tail Liability claims ensuring that quality customer service is provided.

This is a great opportunity for a junior to mid-level individual with liability experience to join a progressive and supportive team for long-term career development.

The key responsibilities for this role include the following, but not limited to:

• Accurate completion and validation of claims
• Interaction in a professional manner with third parties
• Efficient management of the claims process
• Initiation and completion of any recoveries from third parties
• Ensure compliance with relevant statutory guidelines and standards
• Self audit of claims files to ensure positive internal audits
• Establish and maintain good client relationships with the insured, brokers, investigators, solicitors and the general public
• Response to enquiries in an accurate, timely, professional and courteous manner within Privacy guidelines

As the successful candidate you have:

• Minimum 1-2 years experience in Public Liability experience - junior to mid level individuals encouraged to apply
• Sound technical understanding and ability to manage a diversified portfolio of bodily injury, property damage and product liability claims
• Understanding of underwriting procedures for a diversified liability portfolio and a proven ability to understand and interpret relevant policy wordings
• Ability to engage, instruct and work with relevant providers including loss adjusters, lawyers and consultants
• An understanding of, and demonstrable application of, the General Insurance Code of Practice
• Ability to interpret technical / investigation reports to make sound business decisions
• Ability to participate in alternative dispute resolution
