THE OPPORTUNITY

The purpose of this role is to assess liability and the determination of claims.  Working closely with a team of Case Managers, you will be responsible for the review of evidence and formulation of the initial and recurrence/reactivation liability strategies and decisions on claims.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Case Manager wanting to take the next step into a specialist role with an advisory and coaching element.

ABOUT YOU

• Reviewing all available medical and factual evidence collected during the early contact process, to prepare initial and /or recurrence and reactivation liability decisions with supporting rationale
• Determining all aspects of liability on assigned claims within required timeframes, pursuant to legislation and guidelines
• Drafting written communication for adverse decisions, including dispute notices and reasonable excuse letters
• Developing strategies for liability management
• Working in conjunction with Legal Specialists and the management team to provide technical advice to the case managers on initial eligibility matters;
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders, including employer clients, legal practitioners etc. in relation to liability determinations
• Providing mentoring and support to Case Managers and other staff members, and identifying training needs as required in eligibility

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated experience in workers compensation and the determination of initial eligibility
• Strong working knowledge of both new and former State workers compensation legislation
• Demonstrated experience in a Senior/Case Manager or technical role
• A driven professional with highly developed written and verbal communication skills and outstanding organisational and coordination skills
• Careful consideration to detail with a high concern for accuracy
• Ability to integrate, influence and work within a team setting
• Strong stakeholder engagement and management with internal and external stakeholders
