Keep Calm and Smoke Meats

Are you being offered the opportunity to progress within the company that you work for? Are you being given the support you need to your skills to the next level? Are you wanting to learn under effective management, and forward your own career path? Do you enjoy managing a team and immersing yourself in a mixture of administration and service? Do you thrive on developing staff? We’re looking for a talented Sous Chef to join our newly established team.

Fancy Hanks is leading the way in American BBQ, offering a traditional, slow-smoked range of quality brisket, ribs and other meaty delights. We aim to replicate the American Hospitality that is famed throughout the South and leave our mark on the Melbourne food scene.

If you’re looking to expand your skillset, we offer extensive training for the position both in house and with a hospitality specialist consultation company. You can expect regular catch ups with a mentor who will help you develop all the skills you need to take your career to the next level. You will also gain exposure to organising festivals and events (such as TASTE of Melbourne and Meatstock) and expand your knowledge by co-ordinating off-site catering bookings. On top of this, you’ll be immersed in the running of a food truck network and learn how to steal the edge in a competitive market. You’ll also gain some broader industry knowledge by being a part of creative collaboration dining nights with other leading restaurants.

The position is looking to the future, and your time will be divided between overseeing the day to day operations, but also working alongside the management team to fulfil the long-term goals of the business. Your understanding of the administrative aspects of running a kitchen will be constantly developed and you will be involved in processes that will help you take your skillset to the next level.

If this sounds like the challenging opportunity you’ve been looking for and would like to lead a team that flourishes beneath you, we’d love to hear from you. If you’re entitled to work in Australia, simply send through a short introductory letter, and your resume to [email protected] and we might be seeing you around the BBQ soon.
