Churches of Christ in Queensland, Residential Aged Care Service, Warwick Campus

Permanent, full-time position

About the role

We are expanding to establish Warwick as a major centre for seniors care in the Southern Downs region and you will be a big part of that. You will be a master at multi-tasking within this diverse hospitality role. You will be responsible for overseeing, preparing and cooking high quality, nutritious meals for our residents with special dietary requirements. You will be able to get involved in building your team of Chef's and kitchen staff. Responsible for supervising and mentoring a committed small team you will also ensure daily tasks are maintained according to operational guidelines.

Your main area of responsibility will be all day to day management of the kitchen and catering requirements in a Cottage Model aged care service. This includes preparing high quality, nutritious meals for our residents with different care need and special dietary requirements. You will have the opportunity to make meal time the highlight of the day for our residents. Sharing your cooking experience and compassionate and patient nature, you will actively contribute to establishing high standards of customer service to our residents and participate in continuous improvement.

You will not have to balance your life around split and weekend shifts anymore, as you are only required to be available Monday to Friday from 9am to 5:30pm. If you are looking for an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city as well as a rewarding role that has a positive impact on the lives of seniors, this might be the right opportunity for you.

About you

You are an experienced Chef willing to take on a diverse role in the residential aged care environment. Driven by challenges, you are looking for a role where your input will make a real difference to the lives of our residents. With your comprehensive understanding of legislation relevant to the industry you confidently ensure the application of safe food hygiene practices. Your highly developed prioritization, time management, leadership and problem solving techniques are just some of your strengths. If you are also enthusiastic, reliable and work well in a team environment, this is an excellent opportunity for you. Your experience and qualifications for this role include:

  • Chef trade qualifications, Certificate IV Commercial Cooking or higher;
  • Solid experience as a commercial cook and in managing commercial or high volume kitchens;
  • Experience in the Aged Care industry is preferable, including an understanding of aged care dietary needs;
  • A friendly and outgoing personality with strong focus on customer service and satisfaction.

Importantly, you will be someone who closely aligns with our organisational values of: modelling unconditional love; behaving with integrity; and being good stewards.

Imagine working for us

Remuneration packages come complete with salary-packaging benefits that can increase your take-home pay along with a generous five weeks of annual leave and the ability to purchase more (for eligible employees). To ensure your career can grow, we are constantly exploring innovative training and development programs. Most importantly, you will help us to positively impact the lives of thousands of vulnerable Australians. Just imagine that.
