About the business
Delta Catering operates a cafe inside a corporate office building in Southbank. Our cafe operates Monday to Friday, with working hours between 7am and 3:30pm, which allows a decent afternoon and evening free for our employees, which would work well for evening work elsewhere if desired. Along with the daily operations of the cafe, we provide catering for the office building we reside in. We are a small team, and work closely with our customers and clients, providing an intimate work environment.
About the role
We are currently looking for two casual cooks to work in our onsite kitchen. The role of our cooks will be the foundation for the food we provide at both the cafe and our in house catering.
The hours of work will be up to 20 hours per week across 3 days, between Monday to Friday.
You will be working along side our catering assistant who prepares our cafe meals each morning using the protein, fruits & vegetables you will prepare throughout the week. The role will also involve working independently, and sometimes with each other, in order to complete your weekly duties.
Your key tasks and responsibilities will involve:
- Batch cooking meats
- Fruit & vegetable preparations
- Soup & salad making
- Stock control and ordering
- Processing in house catering orders
- Cleaning & maintaining the kitchen
Food preparation will be a big focus of the role, as the food at our cafe is pre-made each morning by our catering assistant, your role will be ensuring there is adequate food prepared for them to use each day. As each week follows the same routine, it is easy to plan ahead your duties for each day.

The two cooks we hire will both share the responsibilities of the role, allowing yourself to have a partner to work alongside with to ensure a less stressful work load.
Depending on how the role proceeds, there is the outlook of moving to a part time basis with leave entitlements.
Skills and experience
To be considered for the role, the following will be required:
- At least 1 year of similar experience
- Available between Monday to Friday, 7am-3:30pm
- Full Australian working rights
- Food Safety Supervisor certificate
We are looking for someone confident in their experience, knowledgeable in your recipes, and well structured to ensure your daily duties are met in time.
