The Southern Cross Club is currently seeking suitably qualified and motivated applicants to join our Yacht Club team in the casual position of Chef and Kitchen Hands.
In your role of Chef you will provide support to the Executive Chef and Sous Chef in all phases of kitchen’s operations, maintain high standards of preparation and presentation and ensure hygiene standards are maintained in accordance with current legislation. You must have a recognised commercial cookery certificate, experience in a la carte dining, food and wine matching menus, wine dinners and modern cooking style and techniques. You must have the ability to work variable hours including split shifts over a 7 day rotating roster.
As a Kitchen Hand you will prepare food items to order, following standard recipes and procedures, will be responsible for cleaning food preparation equipment, tables, counters and other work areas; will be responsible for checking food items and making sure the regular quality at all times; you will keep the work environment very clean and safe. You have to be able and operate kitchen equipment, have very good ability to stand long periods of time; able to work in hot and cold environment; be willing to work long hours in a fast paced environment with high pressure; have strong interpersonal skills; able to communicate with individuals form diverse backgrounds, be reliable and have flexibility to work a 7 day rotating roster including weekends.
