Our purpose is to serve our residents and customers and be the best retirement community owner, operator and care services provider for older Australians. RetireAustralia currently operates a portfolio of 27 established villages throughout South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland An exciting opportunity is now available for a suitably experienced and certified Chef to join our dedicated team at our Torrens Grove Retirement Village on a permanent full-time basis, with an immediate start available.

What you will do:

  • Provide the highest standards in meal preparation and presentation to all residents in serviced apartments, independent units and for catered functions
  • Manage food stocks, ordering and labouring costs
  • Maintain and manage food handling regulations
  • Plan and prepare food for special functions such as Melbourne Cup Day, Christmas Dinners etc. as required for the social life of the village
  • Have a genuine passion for food
  • Ensure that all kitchen processes are adhered to including HACCP Food Safety Guidelines, and other legislative requirements
  • Work well with others and function as part of a great team

What you will bring:

  • Formal Chef/cook training (highly desirable)
  • Experience in working within the retirement industry (advantageous)
  • Knowledge of legislative requirements for safe work practices and environment
  • Understanding and knowledge of creative menu development
  • Extensive experience in food costing and ordering within budgetary constraints
  • Ability to liaise at all levels and build strong rapport with residents and staff on all levels
  • Understanding of HS&E practices
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and meet deadlines and commitments
  • A commitment to quality, professionalism and attention to detail in all tasks performed
