About the role

Trangie Local Aboriginal Land Council (Trangie LALC) has partnered with ACA in seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual for the position of Trainee Tourism Officer at the Wungunja Cultural Centre Trangie. This is a part time position, working 21 hours per week across Monday to Friday.

The role of Trainee Tourism Officer is a combination of marketing, public relations and management that includes planning and preparation. This position is responsible for supporting the operations and service delivery of the Wungunja Cultural Centre located in Trangie NSW, and providing high level customer service to visitors, tourists, Trangie LALC and the community.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Daily operations of the Centre under the direction of the Trangie LALC CEO and Board
  • Maintain a clean and safe workspace
  • Abide by WHS policies and procedures
  • Prepare information for visitors to the Centre
  • Produce promotional material and displays
  • Liaise with schools, tourism providers and the Trangie LALC
  • Ordering and keeping record of merchandise
  • Banking
  • Maintaining the weekend volunteer roster
  • Other tasks as directed by the Trangie LALC CEO

Skills & Experience

  • A keen interest in Marketing and Social Media is favourable
  • General administration and cash handling skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong knowledge and interest in local culture
  • Good work ethic and able to follow instructions
  • Strong organisational skills with an ability to plan and prioritise daily work and events
  • Enthusiasm to engage in the promotion of cultural activities and exhibitions
  • Excellent personal presentation
