Kirkton Park Hotel Hunter Valley is looking for a Sous Chef to join our Executive Chef Jason Martin in leading our passionate kitchen team! 


Kirkton Park Hotel Hunter Valley is on a journey to become the Boutique Hotel destination to have the quintessential Hunter Valley Experience. Our culinary experience is PADDOCK TO PLATE focused, creating the ideal learning and development opportunity for any talent young chef! Our journey is expanding in 2018 so now is the perfect time to be part of this amazing property!  


In partnership with Jason, you will as our second in charge, assist in managing the daily kitchen operations of our diverse Food & Beverage Operation including Locavore Restaurant, Epoche Lounge Bar, The Conservatory, In-Room Dining and Conference and Events.


We require a strong kitchen leader with the ability to inspire your colleagues and have the genuine care to train and develop a high performing team. You will also strive for continued food excellence and financial success for the department. You will assist in overseeing a smooth operation that adheres to local health, safety and other compliance concerns will be second nature for you.

 

Most importantly you will be a true brand and local Hunter Valley ambassador in everything you do! 

Our passionate foodie must have:

  • A formal Commercial Cookery Certification
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Sous Chef or be a talented Chef de Partie ready to take your next step
  • Demonstrated performance in a hotel environment, preferably in the boutique or small hotel market
  • Strong skill base and experience in a la carte, banqueting and buffet food production
  • ‘Hands On’ style, who understands and can deliver on the expectations of a modern and contemporary guest experience
  • Ongoing commitment to quality and providing a truly unique experience to our guests
  • Possess great attention to detail
  • Demonstrated performance leading a successful team
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Superior communication skills
  • A working knowledge and understanding of HACCP procedures, including the training of colleagues in procedures
  • Rostering, ordering & payroll knowledge will be highly regarded
  • High standard of personal presentation
  • The flexibility to work various shifts on a rotating roster including evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • You must meet the legal requirements to work in this country.
