About this role
We're a dynamic, growing company seeking a General Manager to lead a gaming, entertainment and hospitality Club in suburban Melbourne. The successful candidate will be responsible for all operational aspects of the Club, from day-to-day staff management to client relations. The General Manager will be capable of providing leadership in both framing the Club’s strategy, whilst building a customer first team that will deliver operational excellence, and ensuring the business delivers on budget expectations and financial dividends. The Club currently operates a large gaming room, 4 bars, a bistro, 3 function rooms and a rooftop deck. We are getting ready for a major expansion in function room operations whilst renovating existing operations to make the Club a destination for members.
What you will be doing
- Proactively engage with the Club, Board of Management, Department Managers and Sub-Committees to establish and implement a business plan covering key success indicators including financial, operational, technology, marketing, staffing, regulatory and compliance objectives.
- Co-ordinate the operations and activities of departments to ensure synergy within the Club to reach financial performance and patron satisfaction objectives.
- Analyse market trends to maximise both member satisfaction and employee engagement whilst increasing market dominance.
- Assist the Finance and Audit Sub-Committee in the development, management and oversight of the Club’s operating budget.
- Exercising strong commercial acumen whilst making decisions that will drive business activities that build on the Club’s performance across its key success indicators whist maintaining strong fiscal control over operating expenses.
- Manage third party vendors and suppliers including negotiating and overseeing contract administration.
- Actively participate, and promote staff involvement, in community activities in addition to sporting clubs associated with the Club.
- Demonstrate and promote teamwork amongst all management and staff including leading, co-ordinating and mentoring staff and next generation managers and supervisors.
The ideal candidate for this position
- This position requires a methodical person with great management and communication skills who will give strong attention to detail, has a rigorous work ethic and strong business skills.
- Applicants will have a tertiary or professional qualification in Management, or at least five years’ experience in management roles.
- Someone that is creative minded, a good problem solver, quick on their feet, and able to grow this Club in an entrepreneurial fashion.
- Be able to manage a large staff and grow the leadership team into a larger support structure as the Club increases in size.
- As the Club has a large "clubland" component, General Managers with past experience in managing a social/financial membership club are highly sought after for this role.
- Must be able to obtain the required gaming licences for this role.
