Join us as a full time Junior Sous Chef at the InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort. You will have ambition, talent and obviously, some key skills. Because, for this vital role, we?re looking for someone who has a passion for food, an individual culinary style and wants to add value in an environment that will allow them to discover new and innovative products and ways of working within a global brand.

 

Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will be a motivated person with a positive attitude who has an interest to progress your culinary career, develop your skills, and work within varying styles of kitchen operations and different styles of cuisine, with your main focus being our banquets operation. You will be responsible for overseeing and producing a wide range of quality products whilst exercising your knowledge of hygiene and food safety and maintaining our high guest service standards. You will be responsible for creating memorable culinary experiences and growing the reputation of conference and events culinary offering as amongst the best on the Gold Coast. Building relationships with our front of house team, you will  support the Executive Chef to ensure the service and atmosphere they provide is complimented with consistently outstanding cuisine.

 

You will also be responsible for assisting to oversee and produce a wide range of quality products whilst exercising your knowledge of hygiene and food safety and maintaining our high guest service standards. You will have passion, confidence, self-drive and knowledge up-to-date knowledge of new culinary trends. In this challenging hands on position, you will assist the Executive Chef and Sous Chef?s in leading kitchen operations, providing a memorable experience for guests and developing your team. You will be involved in assisting with food ordering, stock control and seasonal menu planning, as well as rostering, performance development and management of the team and general administration.

 

You will have a passion for culinary art and a keen sense of flavours, colour and texture in what you produce. You will have good business acumen, ethics, and attention to detail. You will be driven to achieve results, and lead with a sense of urgency; you will be team focused and have a genuine passion for delivering culinary excellence.

Ideally, you will have previous experience as a Chef de Partie or other similar senior roles with formal a commercial cookery certification. You will have experience in delivering a high level of food quality in a hotel or restaurant environment and preferably will have worked with food safety systems such as HACCP. It is expected that you will be proactive towards change & improvement and participate in resort committees and have an awareness of reporting systems such as hazards and incidents.

 

You will have the flexibility to work various shifts including evenings, overnights, weekends and public holidays across a seven day roster. You must hold a current Australian driver?s license and also meet the legal requirements to work in this country.
