Merlo Coffee is proud to be one of Australia’s leading independently owned and operated coffee roasters. In addition to supplying the public and our own Merlo stores with freshly roasted coffee every day, we also supply more than 1,500 cafes and restaurants throughout Australia.
As we are an ever-expanding business, we are currently looking for an experienced Barista, ideally with supervisory experience, to join the incredible team at our Victoria Point store.
About the role:
This exciting opportunity is ideal for those who are looking to grow and develop their skills within the coffee industry. You will be provided with the tools, training and support to transition into a supervisory position, once the training is complete your key responsibilities will include:
- Staff management: assisting the store manager in directing, training and rostering a team of 7+ employees;
- Product knowledge: continuously educating and training staff on coffee, and product knowledge;
- Customer service: ensuring customer focused service is maintained at all times;
- Financial management: performing day to day cash management, stock control, purchasing and profitability management of site, managing wage percentages and sales targets;
- Store Management: maintaining the presentation and daily running of the store to the highest standard, including food safety and OH&S.
About you:
To be successful in this role you will possess:
- A passion for coffee – join a company that is obsessed with the taste of coffee, single origin beans, the process from crop to cup and teaching customers to brew at home;
- A genuine love of customer service – this means making customers happy and striving to keep them coming back;
- The desire for career progression – as we often internally recruit, we are looking for someone who is interested in managerial positions;
- A can-do attitude – this means contributing to a positive workplace culture where nothing is impossible;
- Full availability each week, including weekends;
- Minimum two years barista experience, ideally with some shift management/supervisory experience also.
