The Company
Multi award winning 80 seat restaurant with Bruce Highway frontage outside the town of Childers. Breakfast, lunch and dinner 6 days utilising local seasonal produce for a Canadian inspired menu. The menu offers a variety of traditional Canadian dishes, Australian favourites, and up market options for you to get creative with.
The Position
We’re looking for an experienced and professional person with an eye for detail and a passion for cooking to head our kitchen team and offer our guests a memorable dining experience. You will be required to run a profitable kitchen, lead your team during key service periods and manage / coach staff to ensure that the consistent high quality of food is upheld. This role will be working in a small team and will require a focused and hands on person as you will be required to perform all kitchen duties including prep, cooking, cleaning and food safety compliance requirements. You will be required to oversee and train an apprentice as they do on-the-job training. Some outdoor and gardening duties will be required as we grow some of our own produce.
The position is available for an immediate start for the right person. Must be available to work days, nights, weekends. The role requires a trained professional with full knowledge of all aspects of kitchen management. Experience with off-site catering is also essential as the business continues to grow in this market. A comfortable ability to interact with diners and being able to work closely with suppliers and front of house team is also required.
Skills, Experience & Culture
- Must have a good understanding of cost of sales, wage and food cost percentages
- Be passionate and creative when it comes to menu development, with an emphasis on using local products and produce to present high quality food
- Have a positive attitude, clear communication and good people skills within a supportive team environment
- Stock-taking, maintaining food cost control, minimising wastage
- Experience with Canadian cuisine is preferred, but not essential
- Must be punctual and reliable
- A quick thinking ability to be able to perform numerous tasks in a fast paced, high pressure environment
- The ability to take on new ideas and think ‘outside the box’
- Must have own reliable transport
- Excellent Food Hygiene and Occupational Health & Safety standards
- First Aid certificate
