About the role
The successful applicant will be responsible for the running of the day to day operations of the stewarding department within a 5 star hotel. As a proven team leader, the successful applicant will have a strong working knowledge of HACCP and WHS practices and must be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver the highest level of cleanliness and sanitation for Food and Beverage outlets and kitchens within a busy 5 star hotel.
Duties/responsibilities include
- Effectively supervise kitchen stewards during rostered shifts
- Manage and coordinate the stewarding team during banquets and functions
- Responsible for the deep cleaning of kitchens and ensuring all checklists and tasks are completed to the highest standard
- Rostering, delegation of duties and administrative tasks for the department
- Train team members, ensuring they maintain a professional manner and are up to date with hotel events and the requirements of the kitchen
- Manage and maintain a clean and tidy working environment for all hotel outlet kitchens ensuring all kitchen stewards are doing the same
- Work hands on within the stewarding department to ensure hygiene and WHS requirements are met
- Ensure correct maintenance of all operating equipment and dishwashing machinery
- Maintain clean and tidy kitchen storerooms at all times
- Work safely with chemicals to assist with the cleaning process
Skills/experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a Chief Steward or Senior Stewarding Supervisor is essential and preferably within a 5 star hotel environment
- May suite chef looking for a lifestyle change due to more favourable hours
- Good presentation, communication skills and a fluency in English
- Strong understanding of Commercial Kitchen Equipment, Chemical Handling, Food Safety, HACCP and WHS requirements
- Ability to work within a team and under pressure
