The George Kerferd in Mayday Hills, Beechworth offers guests a true hotel experience with 52 rooms of accommodation, large function and event spaces, conference rooms, restaurant and bar.  

Since opening in 2013 the family business set in 20 hectares of heritage listed gardens in Mayday Hills has experienced significant growth.

We believe strongly in caring for the environment, utilising local and in season produce and producing menus and dishes that are interesting and exciting.  

The Function Chef will be responsible for our functions  kitchen and maintaining high quality standards and consistency from our restaurant through to our functions and events.  

The successful candidate will be responsible for;

• Designing menus that are fresh and showcase local and seasonal produce
• Managing and mentoring the team, including front of house and kitchen, to maintain a high standard of service that delivers a memorable dining experience for our customers
• Managing the kitchen budget, including stock control, orders and staff management
• Working with management to promote and market the business

The successful candidate must have:

• At least 4-5 years experience as a chef in restaurant kitchens
• High standard of food presentation and productivity
• A desire to continuously learn and improve
• Ability to work under pressure
• Experience in budget management, menu design and implementation
• Strong communication skills
• Good attention to detail
• Good leadership skills
• Ability to work in a dynamic team environment
• Ability to multi task and think on your feet
