A memorable tour experience comes down to the enthusiastic presentation and vast knowledge of the tour guide. The purpose is to deliver factual information to the passengers that is engaging and interesting. The Guide must maintain the integrity of all stages of the customers’ experience with a 5-star rating, including the service of Food and Beverage, and cleaning.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Perform the role of Tour Guide for the duration of the cruise
  • Act as deck hand within the vessels operational requirements.
  • Assist the Captain in the secure berthing of the Vessel including handling ropes etc.
  • Service of food and beverages to all passengers.
  • Perform general boat cleaning duties including public areas, decks and storage areas as required.
  • Cleaning of vessels to a 5-star rating
  • Provide commentary “tour delivery” with 5-star rating reviews on TripAdvisor
  • Provide assistance with water activities on anchor, swimming, fishing and kayaking
  • Prepare vessels for the next day’s shift ensuring vessel is clean and ready

  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and openly in all interactions, both verbal and written
  • Excellent presentation skills and product delivery.

  • Be able to retain historical facts
  • Be enthusiastic, energetic with a friendly and bubbly personality.
  • Possesses a knowledge of all Microsoft Office software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word and be very comfortable and familiar with online web applications

Competencies

  • Experience – minimum of one to two years of experience in a similar capacity and ideally Tourism/Hospitality environment
  • Must have current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Certificate
  • Must have current First Aid Certificate
  • Exercises sound judgment; evaluate situations and utilize appropriate and creative resources to solve problems
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and natural skill for taking initiative, multi-tasking and prioritizing.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with maximum accuracy, efficiency and attention to detail, maintaining a keen sense of urgency at all times 
  • Maintain the highest level of professionalism and integrity at all times, whether in appearance or in dealing with others
  • Performs other related tasks that may be assigned by the director
  • Be fully conversant with all health and safety, fire and emergency standards and procedures
  • Willingness to work hard and learn on the job.
  • Available to work weekends and public holidays 
  • Contributes to the morale and team spirit of the company by building and maintaining supportive and effective relationships with colleagues and associates, instilling confidence and demonstrating “chemistry” with key constituents
