About this Role

Perth Racing seeking a broadly experienced person to manage our bar, café and fast food operations over our 2 Racecourses for both race day and non-race day events. The Retail Manager – Food and Beverage leads the Bar and Retail team and works closely with the Kitchen, Functions and Logistics teams to deliver high quality, innovate and fresh food and beverage offerings with an exceptional level of service.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to foster relationships with suppliers, club members, clients, customers and colleagues, maximise sales and profitability, plan and manage sales and promotion programs, effectively manage a largely casual workforce and manage cost of goods and labour budgets.

Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Ensure efficient day-to-day management of retail bars and food outlets
  • Effectively communicate with staff, customers, contractors, suppliers and stakeholders
  • Rostering of staff in line with business demands an budget constraints
  • Control stock, minimise loss and wastage
  • Oversee a large number of bars and food outlets with a wide range of product and service styles
  • Plan ahead for event on seasonal requirements
  • Communicate in advance changes and requirements to the Point of Sale Officer
  • Coach staff and ensure adequate training and briefing
  • Work closely with the Executive and Sous Chefs in developing menus and products and food production
  • Ensure safe food handling, hygiene and liquor regulatory requirements met
  • Train staff to ensure a consistently high level of product knowledge and customer service
  • Continually improve food and beverage product offerings

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Experience in a range of hospitality environments and food and beverage service styles
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar level management role
  • Financial management experience and exceptional cash handling skills
  • Able to be on your feet for long hours. Available to work regular Saturday shifts and Sundays and public holidays as dictated by business demands
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good organisational and forward-planning skills
  • An aptitude for working with computer systems
  • Exceptional interpersonal and people management skills
  • Great team leadership and coaching skills and the ability to act as a role model
  • Delegation and time management skills
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a dynamic and demanding environment

Qualifications

  • Suitable Hospitality Industry qualification
  • Unrestricted Approved Manager Status
  • Valid C-Class WA Driver’s license
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
  • Senior First Aid Certificate
  • Valid WA forklift license desirable
