The 360-bed Melbourne Metro YHA caters for a wide range of guests including backpackers, families, and groups. It is ideally located in North Melbourne only minutes from the famous Queen Victoria Markets and free CBD tram zone.
We're looking for a Full Time Duty Manager to assist the Hostel Manager with the day-to-day supervision of the front desk of the hostel.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
- Lead and motivate staff to ensure a high level of energy and enthusiasm is evident at the front desk at all times.
- Play an active role in the daily activities.
- Support staff to ensure all guests receive impeccable customer service
- Liaise with various departments to ensure the hostel is running smoothly.
- Ensure that the hostel's atmosphere is pumping during peak times.
- Take pride in the appearance of all areas within the hostel.
- Efficient and accurate banking, reporting and auditing.
You will also ensure our guests have a fantastic experience at the hostel by:
- Checking in and checking out guests with a friendly smile, as well as informing them about what's on in the hostel during their stay.
- Being a walking-talking-Australia-guide-book, as well as offering guests a range of unique local tips.
- Helping guests plan their Australian trip of a lifetime by recommending and selling unique and exciting experiences.
To be successful you must:
- Have an outgoing personality with a unique and charismatic style of customer service
- Be able to inject energy into a team.
- Think on your feet, and confidently use authority when necessary.
- Be able to sell experiences and dreams
- Be prepared to work a rotating roster including weekends, evenings and public holidays
- Have a thirst for travel!
