About the business

Stars Catering Group have specialised  in Film & TV catering for over 20 years. We have opened our first retail Fresh Food Store and are looking for someone to produce quality, creative pastry products, cakes and desserts for our catering business and retail outlet.

If you are a creative and forward thinking Pastry Chef we need you to join our energetic team in Mordialloc. No nights and a creative licence to expand the product range. If you love a fast paced environment with a strong focus on quality produce, setting the trends not following them and have outstanding presentation skill, then we want to hear from you. 
Positions available are full time and part time. 

About the role

Pastry Chef:

  • Manage the Pastry department including  training of Commis Chef and liasoning with Head Chef to develop new recipes. 

  • Prepare and produce a variety of pastry goods and prepare and decorate Celebration cakes;

  • Ensure that products are made to the highest possible standard;

  • Responsible for maintaining stock control,  minimising wastage and safe and organisational skills;

  • Ensure food safety standards are met in all stages of food preparation starting with the ingredients and ending with the finished products.

Commis Chef: 

  • Ability to receive direction 
  • Exceptional time management skills and being able to work well under pressure 
  • Excellent communication skills in the English language. 
  • Previous experience working in a pastry department 
  • Completing a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery 
  • Passion for vegan and gluten free desserts
