THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen operations, ensuring innovation, consistency and highest quality food standards.
The Head Chef will control and direct the food preparation process and all kitchen team members while creating and inspecting dishes before they arrive to the customers ensuring high quality, creation and satisfaction.
In addition, the Head Chef will:
- Lead manage the kitchen team ensuring efficient and productive delivery of quality foods
- Ensure all production is delivered meeting or exceeding budget requirements
- Be on top of current food trends
- Ensure compliance with nutrition, sanitation and food safety regulations
- Assist with constructing menus with new or existing culinary creations to ensure a variety and quality of servings
- Manage ordering and stock control of ingredients ensuring best price and quality
- Manage and conduct monthly stocktakes
THE EXPERTISE/PROFILE:
To be successful as Head Chef in this full time position, you must have:
- Minimum 3 years experience as a Head Chef within a premium restaurant / function kitchen is essential;
- Certificate III Hospitality (Commercial Cookery);
- Solid experience leading and directing a kitchen team;
- A modern approach & a passion for innovative menu design, coupled with a strong background in classic technique;
- A strong work ethic, taking pride in the quality and consistency of the food you produce;
- The ability to work under pressure whilst executing precise time management skills involving planning, prioritising and delegating;
- Strong experience with all food safety regulations including HACCP;
- Experience with menu creations and costings and meeting budget requirements;
- Professional presentation and excellent communication skills
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Flexibility and availability to work across a rotating roster including week days, evenings & week-ends;
