Restaurant Manager/Assistant Manager

Tsunami is one of Perth’s largest Japanese restaurants. We have mainly a relaxed, casual dining venue with an unrestricted tavern license (we are able to sell alcohol for takeaway in the same way as a liquor store, and we do so frequently with respect to sake and Japanese craft beer which we import directly from Japan.

Tsunami produces some of the finest Japanese food in Perth, especially sushi, and has a large function area where we hold functions and weddings.

We also have a separate teppanyaki room (16 pax). 

Restaurant Manager 

The Restaurant Manager will work closely with the head chef and owner with a focus on training, managing service delivery, closing the venue, helping the sake team, sell functions to clients and then manage them & make sure the restaurant runs smoothly.

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Close the restaurant, supervise shifts and meet wage % kpi’s as the approved manager 
  • You will be working on the floor. A large portion of your role is managing the service and training.
  • Lead the team by example, coordinating ongoing training programs 
  • Detailed understanding of our company culture, systems, offering & products 
  • Work with the kitchen to manage the flow of service 
  • Be able to manage problems during service and understand how to resolve 
  • Complete the cash up at the end of a shift 
  • Rostering of full-time & casual staff to ensure appropriate staffing 
  • Ensure all staff follow procedures, delivering a quality fast & friendly service 
  • Be able to handle customer feedback/manage expectations during service to ensure customer satisfaction 
  • Produce a set of checklists for operation and supervise their execution 
  • Must have drivers license
  • We are a night restaurant. We do not open for lunch, but we are open 7 nights a week.

Skills & Experience 

We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic hospitality professionals who are committed to providing an outstanding experience. A minimum of 3 years experience is desirable.  

Optional

An approved managers license is desirable but not necessary although you will have to get one beforehand to work here.
A knowledge of Japanese language is desirable but not necessary as is an appreciation and  knowledge of Japanese food.
