An established resort with new owners, new investment and a vibrant new direction forward, Heron accommodates up to nearly 280 guests with the primary drawcard being located right on the Great Barrier Reef. There is a marine centre, activities centre, boutique, award-winning day spa, spacious lounge and bar overlooking the pool plus the expansive Shearwater Restaurant. Marine activities for guests and staff include world-class diving, snorkelling, kayaking and cruises.

Our Shearwater Restaurant is open every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is an expansive hot and cold buffet style of a very high and generous standard. Lunch is a la carte focusing on light to medium meals as you'd expect in a good city bistro. Dinner is a variety of multi-selection buffet, seafood, a la carte and table d'hote. Barista-style coffee is on offer as is an extensive Australian and New Zealand wine list.

We are now specifically seeking applications for Kitchen Stewards at our busy restaurant.

Kitchen Stewards are essential to the smooth running of the kitchen and front of house. Furthermore, there is the opportunity to be trained and progress with many other skills in the kitchen - a great start for budding chefs!

What you will bring to the role;

• A will-do, hard working attitude to simply get on with the job and do it well
• Attention to detail for a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen
• Calm under pressure, focusing on the job at hand as directed
• Ability to work unsupervised as well as taking direction from senior chefs
• Assisting with barge days, the unloading and storing of regular deliveries to the island
• A proactive approach to assisting in the kitchen wherever possible

We are also seeking a Kitchen Steward Supervisor.

At Heron Island Resort shared or private accommodation is offered, dependant on the position. Staff meals are provided daily as is access to staff social facilities and discounts for the wide range of activities on the island. Ferry transfers between the mainland are at no cost. This is a truly live-work together culture and experience which one must be prepared to embrace and fully respect.
