Looking for a hospitality management role that isn’t day and night, seven days per week? Then this role could be your next move….

The Newcastle Jockey Club (NJC) is the leading thoroughbred racing and training organisation in the Hunter & Newcastle regions. A major development at the Broadmeadow complex has recently been completed putting the NJC well in the frame as the best provincial track in Australia. An exciting and unique opportunity now exists to join the Club in the role of Hospitality Services Manager.

As the Hospitality Services Manager, you will be an integral part of the management of 32 race day events in Newcastle and 10 events at the Cessnock track each year. This is a multifaceted role in which being well organised is the key. Your background across broad hospitality operations and events will ensure you are one step ahead of problems and always have contingencies in place for those inevitable issues that pop up. You will have an eye for detail that enables you to recognise potential problems before they arise.

Working closely with the GM of Hospitality and key team members, you will provide operational event advice and ideas which contribute to driving greater visitation on both race days and non-race days. This is where your creative flair and project management skills will shine. Experience in creating one off, large scale events or managing a large complex venue is a must.

Your broader venue, event and function management skills will include working to revenue and cost budgets, leading and motivating a team to deliver above client expectations, developing run sheets for various departments and a knowledge of food and beverage offerings. Experience training and developing a team will be essential for this role to ensure service standards are exceeded and the business functions efficiently in peak periods.

To be successful in this role you must demonstrate excellent time management, planning and organisational skills which ensure your team and suppliers deliver on promises. Equally, a drive to see events through, be hands on when required and a knack for detail that ensures consistency and identifies issues before they become a problem are essential.

If you are seeking an opportunity with a high profile and popular venue where you can manage a varied business unit, apply now or call Chris Anderson on 02 4927 2010 for a confidential discussion.

Applications close Tuesday 24th of July 2018.

Please include a cover letter and resume with your application.
