Horizons is seeking an individual to capitalise on recent growth and assist in driving the organisation forward. The position will be responsible for effectively designing, planning and coordinating tours.

Main Duties

  • Tour Organisation. Work with the Operations Team, Event Organisers, Suppliers, Hosts, Venues and Attractions to plan all aspects of tours, including but not limited to booking flights, accommodation, transport, sightseeing, activities, performances, workshops and school exchanges.
  • Itinerary Development. Develop tour itineraries by identifying tour destinations, events and activities that align with school curriculums and development goals.
  • Suppliers. Identify and develop relationships with international suppliers capable of assisting with the delivery of tour requirements.
  • Strategy. Assisting the Managing Director to develop strategies to continue to grow the Company.
  • Relationship Management. Manage current wholesale client relationships through ongoing communication via phone, email and face to face meetings.
  • Goals. Meet measurable tour, participant, revenue and profit goals.
  • Presentation. Represent the Company by presenting to potential school clients
  • Communication. Maintain clear and concise communication both internally, other staff, and externally, Tour Leaders and Tour Participants.
  • Financial. Ensuring all tours are managed within budgets, including maintaining tour profit margins
  • Travel. Represent Horizons Education Tours at trade shows, interstate client meetings and as a Tour Manager on International Tours.

Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of workplace experience in either the travel industry or a subject specific job in the fields of history, music, language or art.
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills i.e. a proven ability to build professional relationships with clients, work with colleagues in a team environment and respectfully deal with business suppliers.
  • Exceptional organizational skills i.e. ability to prioritise and meet projected targets & deadlines, as well as attention to detail, and time management.
  • Efficient in Microsoft Office and Windows based programs, as well as the ability to quickly learn tourism CRM systems and browser based content-management systems.
  • Proven financial skills i.e. creating & working within budgets.

Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in either tourism or education.
  • Personal travel experience to destinations around the world.
  • Sales & marketing skills i.e. strong negotiation skills, business development, marketing strategy and use of social media platforms.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Personal passion for education.
